Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can: what we need to sell you wallpapers, email you your download and, if you ask for it, send you our newsletter. No accounts, no ad trackers, no tracking cookies.
Who's responsible
Backied, based in the Netherlands, is responsible for your personal data under the GDPR. Questions or requests go to hello@backied.com.
What we collect and why
- When you buy: your email address, name, billing details and what you ordered. We use them to take payment, deliver your download, email you the link and help you if something goes wrong. Basis: performing our contract with you, and keeping records the tax authorities require.
- When you sign up for the newsletter: your email address, to send you your discount code and news about new packs. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- When you email us: your email address and whatever you write, so we can answer. Basis: our legitimate interest in helping you.
- When you visit the site: technical data such as your IP address and browser, which our host logs to keep the site running and secure. Our visitor statistics are anonymous and don't use cookies. Basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure site.
We never see or store your full card details. Stripe handles them. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Cookies and local storage
We don't set any cookies. Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back. It stays on your device until you check out or clear it. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout page for security and fraud prevention.
Who else sees your data
We use a few trusted services to run the shop. They only process your data on our behalf:
Stripe
Payments and checkout. Stripe receives your payment and billing details directly.
Resend
Sends order and newsletter emails and stores the newsletter list.
Vercel
Hosts the website and provides our cookie-free visitor statistics.
Cloudflare
Stores the wallpaper files and delivers your downloads.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the EU, it's protected by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Order records: 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires it.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Emails with us: as long as we need them to help you, then deleted.
- Server logs: only briefly, for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to how we use it, or get a copy to take elsewhere. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, reply "unsubscribe" to any newsletter email or write to hello@backied.com. We'll answer requests within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms.
